The exhibit features the works of more than 40 Skid Row neighborhood artists from Lamp Arts Program, working in a variety of media, from painting to sculpture and multimedia art. Many of the works have been created specifically for this exhibition. Inspired by the exhibit’s title, we revisit what a journey means to us.
Lamp Arts Program is a creative studio platform in LA’s Skid Row neighborhood, believing that equitable access to arts and cultural spaces is a fundamental human right, and is essential to all people and communities. The program encourages long-term participation as artists develop their individual voices, share artwork, inspire each other, build a healthy community together and make creativity a continuous, restorative part of their lives. Lamp Arts Program includes visual arts and music studios, and regular workshops ranging from creative writing to yoga.
Lamp Arts Program is made possible by The People Concern, one of Los Angeles County’s largest social services agencies, providing a fully integrated system of care, believing that everyone should be housed, healthy, and safe.
