Ron Allen Fried Poetry Prize
Skid Row History Museum and Archive

Ron Allen was an inspired be-bop surrealist poetic, musical and theatrical force. For many years a one-man avant-guard in Detroit, Ron came to LA in 2006 to direct LA Poverty Department’s “Fried Poetry” project. Subsequently he moved to LA and worked with Los Angeles Poverty Department, Dramastage Qumran, Theater of Note, and his jazz/poetry ensemble Code Zero before he passed away in 2010.

The Ron Allen Poetry Prize is sponsored by the Los Angeles Poverty Department and Dramastage Qumran in honor of Ron Allen’s creative powers.
