August 8, 2015, 7pm: RENT PARTY with Poet and National Book Award finalist Fred Moten and the The Tommy Newman Jazz Trio at the #skidrowmuseum.

We are delighted to have poet and National Book Award finalist Fred Moten joining us to read from his acclaimed work! The much lauded poet and literary critic has been recognized as one of ten “New American Poets” by the Poetry Foundation of America, and has taught creative writing at Duke University, UC-Riverside and the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, Naropa Institute. He is also co-founder of the small press Three Count Pour.
The Tommy Newman Trio will be serving up jazz after the reading. Newman and the LA Playmakers have been the much anticipated final act for several years at the Festival for All Skid Row Artists. Drummer Tommy Newman will round out his jazz ensemble with keyboard and trumpet for the rent party.
