LAPD performs at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, 900 Exposition Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90007.
The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County’s Performing Arts Program and the Institute for Theater & Social Change (ITSC) at the USC School of Dramatic Arts are proud to share a performance of “Los Angeles: Coming Home,” a theatrical collaboration that aims to inspire conversation around the theme of home, reflected in the Natural History Museum’s Becoming Los Angeles exhibit.
Members of local community organizations, Instituto de Educación Popular del Sur de California (IDEPSCA), Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), and Los Angeles Poverty Department (LAPD), will share stories in a performance created in the model of Forum Theatre—a facilitated, participatory style of theatre where the audience is encouraged to offer suggestions for solutions to a social justice issue proposed in the play. With Los Angeles history as a frame to explore today’s L.A. experience, we look at the concept of history as it “curates” memory to create a vision of the future, telling the under-told stories of the people who have made L.A. their home.
Free event and museum access with RSVP. Performances will be bilingual, in English and Spanish
