Final Talk about the Exhibition “Words We Have Learned Since 9/11”

And Monday, November 14, 7:30 – 9:00pm at Highways Performance Space at 18th St. Arts Center, 1651 18th Street in Santa Monica, CA 90404.

Artist Clayton Campbell will be in conversation with Michael Anthony Turcios from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, talking about and showing projections from his recent collaboration with the Los Angeles Poverty Department. They will discuss his 9/11 Words Project, and the outcome of the workshops with LAPD’s community this past month of October. Also featured are documentary photos of the workshops by artist Fatemeh Burnes.

Founded in 1985 by director-performer-activist John Malpede, Los Angeles Poverty Department (LAPD) is a non-profit arts organization, the first performance group in the nation made up principally of homeless people, and the first arts program of any kind for homeless people in Los Angeles.
