Join us for the 9th Annual Bob Marley Day Celebration!
Saturday, Feb. 10, 1-5pm at the Skid Row History Museum and Archive
Music by SIR OLIVER + SPECIAL GUESTS
For the past 9 years, Skid Row’s resident DJ, Sir Oliver has serenaded the community with reggae beats on Bob Marley Day in honor of the music legend and his legacy. Even though Sir Oliver has relocated across the country to South Bend, he is able to come out to Skid Row to continue the tradition.
This year the event will take place at the LA Poverty Department’s Skid Row History Museum and Archive. 250 South Broadway.
The Event will take place on Sat February 10th.
Sir Oliver has been actively involved in LA’s Skid Row community for many years. He organized the first Bob Marley Day and Jamaican Independence Day festival in Skid Row in 2016 through the support of the community. All of his events are entirely grassroots.
In 2017, Sir Oliver got Mayor Eric Garcetti to officially recognize Feb 6th in the City of Los Angeles as Bob Marley Day, “In remembrance of the legendary musician Bob Marley, and [I, Eric Garcetti] encourage the residents of this city on this day to also practice gratitude in the face of whatever inconvenience they may face and strive toward peace with their fellow human beings.”
Bob Marley Day is a community celebration, where the timeless words of the music legend can be heard, and their message received. There will be music, performances, special guests, and of course free and delicious Jamaican food for the community!
